It’s Christmas, and once again, I’ve been cornered to do some writing. Yes, the motor update is almost ready and will hit your inbox soon—but sitting down to write about decades of change and snowmobiles sent me straight down memory lane.

I picture it now: a light skiff of snow dusting the Indy Specialty chicken coop, the unmistakable scent of Klotz oil mixed with VP-C12 race fuel hanging in the cold air. Inside, we weren’t unwrapping gifts—we were tearing into parts, like little elves wrenching as we worked to get our sleds ready for the big drag races on Prior Lake. Every stud we drove into those tracks, every tweak to squeeze out a little more speed—it all built the anticipation. When the sleds were tuned to perfection, we’d carry them from the coop to the trailer, hearts pounding like kids waiting for Santa.

Friends and family gathered, the sound of braaap echoing across the ice, laughter mixing with the occasional friendly wager. Many gathered year after year to celebrate the season our way—fast, loud, and full of camaraderie. And yes, Todd’s legendary streak across the frozen lake. That was just one of the stories that made this tradition unforgettable.

 Those days remind me what Christmas is really about—traditions that bring people together. For us, it was horsepower and frozen lakes. For you, it might be something different.
